Job Description

We’re looking for a Chief of Staff (CoS) to act as a key partner to the CEO, amplifying their impact, converting Elgin’s strategy into an operating cadence, leading cross‑functional initiatives, supporting ELT decision‑making, and ensuring the CEO’s time and the leadership team’s attention is focused on the company’s most material priorities.

You’ll act as the “glue” between Elgin, our investors and sponsors, and across countries and functions so that all teams work together effectively and efficiently and help to turn decisions into actions.

What you will do:

Strategy & planning (Board meetings, Objectives & Key Results, Annual plan)

  • Lead the preparation for board and investor interactions, ensuring there are clear and consistent updates on the strategy execution and business performance, and clear recommendations seeking a decision or sign-off.
  • Manage the annual objective setting cycle and quarterly reviews; support the leadership team to translate the multi-year strategy into clear, annual, company‑level and functional objectives and key results (OKRs), with measurable targets and owners.
  • Support individual leaders to maintain a rolling 12 – 18-month view of priorities and interdependencies across the functional teams e.g. development, construction, operations.
  • Lead smaller-scale time‑bound CEO priorities / projects from scoping to benefits realisation.

Executive operations & governance (e.g. Executive Leadership Team (ELT), RemCo)

  • Organise and act as the Secretary for the Executive Leadership Team (ELT) meetings e.g. agreeing agendas, collating pre‑reads, updating decision and action logs, supporting the CEO as Chair.
  • Coordinate various committee meetings, supporting the production of high‑quality packs and timely distribution.
  • Follow up to ensure actions are closed, risks are mitigated and escalations happen.
  • Help to “connect the dots” across the business, bringing the right people together and removing blockers.

Program & portfolio oversight (enterprise‑level initiatives)

  • Support the relevant ELT members and Heads Of to manage a unified view of delivery across external and internal projects.
  • Support the ELT and Heads Of to identify and resolve cross-functional risks, issues, dependencies and decisions.

Communications & stakeholder management

  • Write company-wide CEO communications e.g. town halls, leadership notes, and investor messages, using a mix of email and presentations.

Data, insights & tooling

  • Support the ongoing optimisation of the CEO / ELT dashboard i.e. a concise, trustworthy “single source of truth” for key company data.
  • Lead an ongoing focus on data accuracy across teams; ensure inputs are timely, definitions are consistent, and insights inform decisions.

Your profile

What you will need:

Experience
  • 4+ years in a delivery focused consulting environment, with strong project management and problem-solving experience.
  • Real company operating experience, ideally in energy, infrastructure or industrials.
  • Evidence of operating at pace with senior leadership teams and Boards / external Investors.  Exposure to multi‑country governance is desirable.
  • Familiarity with the renewable asset lifecycle (development to operations), project finance concepts (capital stack, lenders’ needs), PPAs, grid and permitting is desirable.

 Skills
  • Execution: Project and task management across multiple teams and have a “get it done” discipline.  You will have a track record of taking loosely defined questions or problems and turning them into an approach and completed actions.
  • Problem‑solving: Structured thinking; able to comfortably move between detail and the big picture.
  • System thinker: Able to design repeatable, holistic, processes and actions.
  • Influence: Earns trust quickly and manages through influence, not authority.  Strong stakeholder management across functions and organisations.  Able to act as a team player, supporting the ELT to execute their agenda’s.
  • Communication: Crisp writing, executive storytelling, and high‑quality document production.
  • Financial & analytical: Model‑literate; comfortable interpreting budgets, dashboards and KPIs.
  • Tools: Office 365 (Excel/PowerPoint/Teams).  Experience of project tooling (Planner / Project / Smartsheet) and BI (Power BI) is desirable.

 Behaviours
  • High integrity, sound judgment, discretion with sensitive matters.
  • Learning agility, inclusive and globally minded.
  • Resilience and a bias to action.
  • High sense of personal responsibility and humility

Qualifications
  • Degree in business, engineering, finance or similar; MBA / CFA a plus.
  • Project / program management credentials (PRINCE2/PMP/Agile) or similar practical experience advantageous.

What success looks like (first 9 - 12 months)
  • Optimised operating cadence: The ELT and the wider business have a finely tuned operating cadence that has delivered improvements in efficiency and effectiveness e.g. improved the speed of decision making and closing actions, accurate reports are available for meetings, communication across the business as improved.
  • Strategy into outcomes: Company‑level OKRs have been decomposed and embedded into teams and individuals’ objectives; the ELT have good insight into the progress towards meeting the OKRs.
  • Positive stakeholder engagement: Consistently strong Board / Committee packs are developed, and more efficiently.
  • Cross‑functional delivery: At least two cross-functional initiatives have been accelerated or delivered.
  • Time allocation: More of the CEO’s time has been focused on the top three strategic goals.

 Practicalities
  • Base location: Dublin; hybrid working aligned to ELT and CEO cadence.
  • Travel: 1 – 2 short trips per month expected to other Elgin sites.
  • Eligibility: Right to work in the UK and Ireland.
  • Compensation & benefits: Competitive base, performance‑related bonus and benefits; long‑term incentive eligibility aligned to seniority and policy.
