Job Description
The Role:
ETOS (Elgin Trading and Optimisation Services) is looking for a dynamic individual to join our Commercial team to play a leading in the origination of PPA’s (Power Purchase Agreements) and other route to market agreements from opportunity identification right through to contracting, helping some of largest corporate energy users and grid operators with their net zero targets. If you have a deep understanding of the power markets in GB and Ireland, a proven track record in negotiating complex energy deals, and a strong network within the industry, this could be the perfect opportunity for you.
 
What you will do:  
  • Build on and take ownership for Elgin’s CPPA (Corporate Power Purchase Agreement) origination and structured contracting strategy 
  • Identify, analyse, negotiate, and execute complex structured energy deals in GB and I-SEM with a focus on solar and storage technologies 
  • Developing innovative PPA structures where by generation and energy storage technologies are utilised efficiently 
  • Lead generation and customer management for prospective CPPA clients
  • Lead person responsible for CPPA tender processes including assessment of the opportunity and response coordination
  • Contribute to and coordinate PPA pricing, in collaboration with other colleagues in the Commercial and Finance teams 
  • Maintain constant communication with risk, operations, and trading teams as necessary to advance target transactions 
  • Build and maintain key relationships with various large energy users, brokers and consultancies in the CPPA space  
  • Expand the pipeline of corporate buyers by generating high quality opportunities
  • Internal stakeholder management to lead Elgin’s C-suite and other relevant stakeholders through all aspects of the complex origination and contracting process
  • Coordinating the relevant internal departments as necessary for developing the key inputs required for profitable deals
  • Constant engagement with Operations and Development in relation to Elgin’s project pipeline updates
  • Assessment and presentation of competition updates, industry insights, key customer challenges, and changes in the marketplace 
  • Production of detailed CPPA versus government subsidy route to market comparisons and analysis 
  • Lead advisory role in government subsidy auction bidding process from a bid pricing and structure point of view 
Your profile
What you will need:
  • 5+ years of experience originating and contracting PPAs in GB and Ireland
  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree in business, economics, engineering, or similar 
  • Proven strong relationships within the energy industry in GB and Ireland 
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel  
  • Deep understanding of renewables and power markets in GB and Ireland  
  • Experience in Government subsidies for renewables in GB and Ireland 
  • Strong commercial mindset, initiative and self-motivation 
  • Quantitative and analytical skills
  • Problem solving and a positive attitude, coupled with a high level of resilience 
  • Financial modelling experience is a strong advantage
