Job Description
The Role:

We are seeking a highly motivated Contract and Commercial Manager to join the Elgin Energy Construction Management Team. The successful candidate will play a critical role in managing the last-mile development, procurement, construction, and early operation of our solar and BESS projects contributing to the growth and success of our organisation. 
This role involves supporting the project delivery team in the successful implementation and execution of solar PV and BESS construction contracts, and the successful resolution of any claims and variations. The role will also involve modelling capex and opex, developing project construction budgets, regular financial reporting, and supporting the project team in the overall financial performance of the project. 
The ideal candidate should possess a strong understanding of renewable energy technologies and industry trends, Construction contract precedents in the UK and Ireland as well as excellent analytical, communication, and project management skills.

What you will do:  

 
  • Take ownership of contractual and financial management aspects of multiple projects during the construction process along with the project team. Monitor commercial & financial performance of the project with a focus on mitigating risk and maximising opportunities. 
  • Develop and implement strategies to optimise the financial performance of renewable energy projects throughout the contract administration process.
  • Prepare and present regular reports on the financial performance of projects, including key performance indicators, risks, opportunities, cash flow, and contingency management.  
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, technological advancements, and policy changes related to renewable energy to inform project delivery strategies.
  • Foster and maintain strong relationships with project partners, suppliers, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure effective collaboration and successful project outcomes.
  • Administer, monitor and report on the commercial aspects of live construction contracts including variations, claims and payment applications. 
  • Support the wider business in preparation of contractual terms and conditions for construction and engineering contracts related to solar PV and BESS projects.
  • Undertake site visits where required
Your profile
  • 5+ years’ experience of commercial/contract management in the construction sector including the successful close out of multiple contracts, in the renewables sector preferably. 
  • Strong commercially conscious approach to risk vs reward measures at pre and post contract stage.
  • Preferably a master's degree in relevant discipline such as; quantity surveying, contract management, cost control, engineering, procurement or related discipline.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and analyse data, financial models, and technical reports to drive informed decision-making.
  • Strong technical knowledge in the area of commercial and contract management of construction projects, particularly FIDIC based contracts.
  • Excellent project management abilities, including the ability to prioritise tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines.
  •  Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively convey complex information to diverse stakeholders. 
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically and creatively to overcome challenges and add value to a project.
  •  A proactive and self-motivated attitude with a strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Valid driver's license for UK & Ireland.
